Chef Takako’s culinary journey is rooted in Japan. Born and raised in Saitama Prefecture, a hub of Tokyo’s metropolitan area, her passion and love for creating and sharing Japanese Cuisine are part of her DNA.
Her culinary journey is not just a personal one but a family affair. Her parents and brother ignited her passion for Japanese Cuisine as a child, with her brother opening a Kaiseki restaurant in Japan in 2001. As a resolute chef with roots in Japanese culinary traditions, she honed her skills at her brother’s restaurant and, in 2006, advanced to the prestigious position of assistant chef.
Life took a turn for Chef Takako in 2007
when she married and moved to Edmonton, Alberta.
The birth of her daughter brought a pause to her culinary career, but it was a break that only fueled her passion. With renewed Determination, she expanded her repertoire, mastering a variety of authentic Japanese dishes. In 2015, Chef Takako and her family embarked on a new chapter, moving to Toronto. Here, she quickly made a name for herself in the local culinary scene, leaving an impression with her skill and dedication. Her talent was recognized in various high-end Japanese restaurants, where she not only proved her prowess but also shattered glass ceilings, becoming one of the female managers in the industry. For the past nine years, Takako has been a vital member of a renowned Japanese restaurant in Toronto, serving as the back-of-house (BOH) manager. She has a unique ability and commitment to her craft of blending authentic Japanese techniques with a contemporary flair.
